Valleylab™ FX8 Energy Platform
Bring greater precision to your electrosurgical handpieces with our high-performance energy platform.1,2,†
OVERVIEW
Putting consistency in your hands1,2
Introducing the latest advancement in the Valleylab™ energy family — the Valleylab™ FX8 energy platform.
A true next-generation electrosurgical solution, the Valleylab™ FX8 energy platform is powered by our intelligent TissueFect™ tissue-sensing technology. So it reads tissue composition to monitor and adjust to impedance as you work.3,4
Now your electrosurgical devices can adapt to produce consistent clinical tissue effects — in real time.5,‡
FEATURES
The Valleylab™ FX8 energy platform drives electrosurgical handpieces with precision using lower levels of energy.1,2 It’s designed to support a wide range of surgical procedures that require division, hemostasis, and dissection.
Along with cut, coag, and SOFT COAG‡‡ modes, the Valleylab™ FX8 energy platform enables two unique modes that can bring new possibilities to your procedures:
- Valleylab™ mode provides a unique combination of monopolar hemostasis and division2,6,7
- Shared coag mode allows two surgeons to work on the same patient at the same time — from a single energy platform
Plus, the Valleylab™ FX8 energy platform delivers:
- Precise monopolar and bipolar energy1,2
- Power control during monopolar energy delivery that’s five times better than the ForceTriad™ energy platform1,2,††
- Tissue monitoring that’s 2,600 times faster than the Force FX™ electrosurgical generator4,8,9
- Appropriate thermal spread10,§

TECHNOLOGY
Intelligent — inside and out
On the inside, the Valleylab™ FX8 energy platform uses TissueFect™ tissue-sensing technology to monitor changes in tissue impedance — in real-time — at 434,000 times per second.1,2 It adjusts energy output to deliver the appropriate amount of power to your handpieces for the desired tissue effect.3,4
On the outside, we designed the Valleylab™ FX8 energy platform for straightforward operation in the OR. Next-generation features include:
A smart, simple, and intuitive interface5,Ω
Simple controls and information displays5
The flexibility of the Valleylab™ Exchange software update system, which allows you to upgrade to new features using the internet3,4

§20 out of 20 surgeons surveyed agreed.
Ω17 of 20 surgeons agreed that the Valleylab™ FX8 energy platform is smart, simple, and designed with an intuitive interface. Three surgeons didn’t know or could not reply to this question.
††Based on internal comparison testing of the Valleylab™ FT10 and ForceTriad™ generators. Valleylab™ FT10 has identical power curves and equivalent power delivery for shared modes to the Valleylab™ FX8 – RE00105221 – 07/2017.
‡‡The SOFT COAG mode on the Valleylab™ FX8 energy platform desiccates tissue at a relatively slower rate with deeper thermal penetration with higher surface coagulum for achieving hemostasis than other coag modes (fulguration or Spray).
The SOFT COAG mode embodied in Covidien’s electrosurgical generators operates differently from the SOFT COAG mode embodied in Erbe’s electrosurgical generators.
